The Buildings & Grounds Department is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, reliability, and long-term planning of Pennington County. Our work is foundational to how the County functions—ensuring systems remain operational, infrastructure is reliable, and departments have the support they need to deliver services without interruption.
We operate at both the ground level and the strategic level. This includes managing ongoing operations, supporting 24/7 critical services, and leading long-range Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) to ensure County assets are maintained, replaced, and improved in a deliberate and financially responsible manner. Our focus is on aligning operational needs with organizational priorities while maintaining a high level of service across all departments.
A key function of our department is the oversight and management of County construction, renovation, and CIP projects. From early planning and budgeting through design, bidding, and construction, Buildings & Grounds provides direct project leadership to ensure scope, cost, and schedule are controlled and aligned with County expectations. We work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects that are practical, efficient, and built to last.
In addition to capital project delivery, our team supports the full spectrum of operational needs—including system maintenance, trades work, custodial services, and grounds upkeep—across a diverse portfolio of County operations. We respond quickly, minimize disruption, and continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and performance.
Our role is to support the function of government—keeping operations running, projects moving, and the County positioned for long-term success.
