Share Your Artwork with Pennington County
Pennington County is inviting local artists and photographers to help bring color, creativity, and a sense of place to our public buildings.
Selected artwork will be displayed throughout the Pennington County Administration Building (900 Concourse Dr., Rapid City, SD 57703), with the potential for future display in other public-facing County facilities, including the Pennington County Justice Center (130 Kansas City St., Rapid City, SD 57701).
We are primarily seeking photography, as it is best suited for large-format printing and display. However, we will also consider other forms of artwork, including paintings, drawings, and other framed pieces that can be safely displayed in a public building.
We're looking for artwork that reflects the beauty, culture, and character of Pennington County in one or more of the following categories:
- Community (cityscapes, historic landmarks, local events, downtown scenes, and everyday life in Pennington County)
- Black Hills and Badlands landscapes
- Wildlife found in the Pennington County area
- Native American artwork and photography
This is not a contest, and there are no prizes, awards, or financial compensation associated with participation or selection. Instead, this is an opportunity to have your work displayed in a public space that serves thousands of County residents each month. Artwork will be selected based on how well it complements the spaces within our buildings, as well as overall quality, clarity, and suitability for display. For photography and digital artwork, resolution and image quality will be important factors in the selection process.
Artists whose work is selected will receive recognition alongside their displayed piece, including the artwork title (if provided) and the artist's name.
Submissions will be accepted through August 28, 2026. Selected artwork will be prepared for display following the close of the submission period.
