Why a New Jail Tower?

Pennington County’s jail has been over capacity for nearly a decade. Our community is growing, and so are the demands on our jail system. This project addresses urgent needs by expanding bed space, fixing critical infrastructure, and allowing for safer, more efficient inmate movement. Public safety, long-term planning, and regional responsibility are at the heart of this initiative.
