Fire Training & Resources

Building the Next Generation of Firefighters
A big thank you to Crystle Parks, Jamie Dahlberg, and the New Underwood VFD for helping inspire our up-and-coming firefighters in training. Opportunities like this make a lasting impact and help build the future of our fire service.
Pennington County is committed to supporting the development of current and future firefighters. Through hands-on training, shared resources, and regional collaboration, we help departments strengthen skills, improve readiness, and better serve their communities.
We extend our appreciation to the individuals and departments who contribute to training efforts and mentorship across the region.

Training Equipment & Resources
To support departments throughout the county, a variety of training tools are available for use, including:
  • CPR manikins
  • SCBA fit testing equipment
  • Sparky Fire Safety Prop
These resources are designed to enhance both classroom and hands-on training experiences.

Training Opportunities & Events
The  FIRE ADMINISTRATION CALENDAR serves as the central hub for upcoming training opportunities, including:
  • Firefighter I (or equivalent)
  • Basic Wildland Fire Training (S-130/S-190)
  • CPR / First Aid Certification
Firefighters are encouraged to explore opportunities both within and beyond their immediate area to expand their experience and skillset. Departments may also submit and promote their own training events to increase visibility and participation.

Expanding Your Experience
Training is not limited by geography. Taking part in courses outside your local area provides valuable exposure to new techniques, perspectives, and networks within the fire service.
Whether you are just starting out or advancing your career, continued training is key to maintaining readiness and effectiveness.
