Investigations

Captain Dustin Morrison heads the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), a group of specialized deputies responsible for the investigation of People Crimes and Domestic Violence/Property Crimes. The division includes thirteen Investigators, two Victim Specialists, one Crime Intelligence Analyst, one Computer Forensics Examiner, two Staff Assistants, and two Rapid City Police Department Detectives who assist with domestic violence and sexual assault cases.

The Sheriff's Office partners with the Rapid City Police Department and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation to share duties with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team (UNET). The Investigations Division also handles coroner duties and oversees the School Resource Deputy Program.
