Sheriff's Office - New Employee Information

This page is designed to provide information to new employees who are preparing for their orientation day with the Pennington County Sheriff's Office.  Below is a list of things you will need, things to expect and general information that should help prepare you for a successful first day.  Please do not hesitate to contact our office by phone at 605-394-6113 or click here to contact us by e-mail.

Where to Go: All new hires should report to the 2nd Floor of the Public Safety Building, 300 Kansas City Street.

Where to Park: Employees are welcome to park in the parking ramp off of 2nd Street and Saint Joseph Street.  Parking in the Courthouse Parking lot and along the North side of Kansas City Street is restricted to two hours.

What to Wear: All new hires should wear business casual clothing.  If required, uniforms are provided within the first week. Additional dress code policies for specific positions will be provided.

Orientation: All Sheriff's Office New Hires undergo up to a 3-week orientation process in accordance with their job function.  An employee's first day will be spent learning about the agency, our benefits, our philosophy and meeting staff.  The remainder of the orientation will include facility tours, stress management from our Chaplains and security essential training.  All new employees are welcomed during a swearing-in ceremony on the 2nd floor of the PSB during their first week.  Family and friends are encouraged to attend.

What to Bring: New hires should bring two forms of identification to complete their I-9 Employment Verification Forms, a voided check to enroll in direct deposit, and the social security numbers, addresses and dates of birth for dependents they wish to list as beneficiaries.

Please print each form and bring with you on the day of your orientation. If you have any questions, please contact us by phone at 605-394-6113.  Each form is fillable and can be completed online before being printed.  If a printer is unavailable, please contact us and we can provide an e-mail address where you can send the completed forms.
